After two months, I want to share my experience with hair botox treatment and my discoveries to the main questions I had before, like: Is the treatment safe on curly hair? Will it control my frizz? Did it damage my hair more? Would I do this treatment again? Continue reading below to find out!

Here I was again, in the land of distressed hair, a place in which I’m a regular now because I can’t stop, won’t stop bleaching. However, most of my damage is on the top short layers this time, so resourcing for a good ol’ trim was not my best choice. Instead, I decided to keep my length and find treatments that could help repair my damaged and weakened strands.

While waiting for my turn at my hairdresser, I noticed her putting a treatment on a lady; curious, I asked about it, and she told me it was hair botox. I was instantly intrigued, but she also said that she hadn’t done it on curly hair, and that’s why she had never offered it to me.

Still, I decided to do my research and, after much consideration, I decided to book my appointment because it’s supposed to be safe for most hair textures. Regardless, my current curls were so unmanageable and frizzy that I didn’t care. And more importantly, at this point, manageable hair was my top priority.

What Is Hair Botox?

Hair Botox is formaldehyde-free and packed with an essential deep conditioning treatment that coats hair fibers with a filler, such as amino acids. The treatment fills in any damaged or thin areas on each hair strand to make the hair appear smooth, full, and lustrous. The effects of hair Botox are supposed to last between 2–4 months, although the exact time frame will vary from person to person. For after-care, you should use a low-sulfate or sulfate-free shampoo to preserve the results. Source- Healthline.com

How Is Hair Botox Treatmeant Applied?

My hairstylist began the treatment with a shampoo to open the hair cuticles and prepare the strands for conditioning. After that, she dried 80% of my hair and then applied the botox treatment like a mask by massaging the product from root to tip. The treatment is left on the hair for 45 minutes.

Noteworthy: There was no burning or itching at all during or after treatment.

Next, she rinsed out the product before blow-drying and straightening my hair with a flat iron. The Botox hair treatment results are seen immediately upon your hair drying.

Right after the treatment, my hair looked and felt smooth but heavy. Apart from that, no other improvements I could note until my first wash.

Noteworthy; A few days after my hair botox treatment, I traveled to Costa Rica’s Caribean coast. There, I was able to test the effectiveness of the smoothing and frizz control in a hot and humid environment.

Hair botox treatment review

Ok, So Whats The Verdict?

After two months, I’m writing this review and happy to report that it worked at smoothing and controlling my frizzy hair by 60%, and my hair is so much easier to manage. Especially while in Costa Rica, the weather was so humid, but my hair was air-drying a lot smoother.

As far as my curls? It didn’t completely eradicate my curls, and they are slowly coming back, but my hair is more wavy than curly. Which was my texture for most of my life anyway, so I can deal with that. Furthermore, my hair is manageable and feels very smooth.

Finally, yes, I would do a hair botox treatment again to control my frizz and recommend it for anyone struggling with signs of damaged hair.
