If you have ever made the bold move to chop all your hair off, then you know regret.

I usually start to feel this regret right around this period, when my hair is at shoulders length.

It is such an awkward length for me, and I don’t know how to style it at all.

I even start considering extensions. Instead, I dig out my book of DIY’s for hair growth treatments and go H.A.M.

One of the causes of hair loss, and slow growth is an unhealthy scalp; a hair mask is an easy and effective way to start.

One of my favorite ones only consists of two ingredients bentonite clay & Greek yogurt. Both excellent for their effectiveness in drawing out toxins and dead skin turnover.

I love it because it makes everything else I treat my hair with work better, it is my go to especially when my hair is lacking volume from product build up.

Benefits

Bentonite Clay works like a magnet, drawing out metals and toxins out of your hair thanks to its strong negative electromagnetic charge.

In translation, it will help rid your hair of product build-up and toxins from the environment. It will also leave your hair feeling thick, smooth and shiny.

Greek yogurt is abundant in calcium, potassium, zinc, vitamins B6 and B12, probiotic cultures and protein all these nutrients are essential for healthy hair.

Its lactic acid will help cleanse the scalp and clear away dead skin cells to help your hair grow with no obstruction, while the fats help moisturize your hair.

Directions

1.Half a cup of bentonite clay in a medium-sized plastic bowl.( HERE)

2. Add 1/4 cup of water and whisk it with a rubber or plastic spoon.

3. Mix in 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt

Optional: Add essential oils like lavender, chamomile, rosemary for added benefits.

  • Apply your mask on damped hair either over the sink, or shower since it can get a little messy.
  • Use a brush or just your fingertips to apply it all over your scalp first.
  • Allow the mask to work its magic for at least 15 minutes.
  • Wash off with warm or water, and once all the mask is washed off, you can continue using shampoo as usual. Preferably use a sulfate-free shampoo + conditioner.

This bentonite clay yogurt mask can be made more moisturizing for dry hair by adding 1 tbsp of coconut oil or olive oil.

How often you use this mask should be based on your results, I like to do it no more than twice a month skipping a week in between.

Enjoy!
