In this post, I will be sharing our Dreamy Bedroom Makeover, as well as easy tips that will help you turn your room into a sanctuary.
Guys, I am so happy to finally share our master suite makeover! And let me tell you, we have been having the best rest we’ve had in a long time.
Unlike the “public” areas (e.g., the living room) bedrooms used to be the last of my priorities when it came to decorating. But, I won’t be making this mistake again. Because it has been the most rewarding of all the makeovers I’ve done thorough the house.
Have a look through my pics and tips, and I hope that they inspire you to create your dreamy space.
Dreamy Bedroom Makeover
My goal was for our bedroom to feel like a sanctuary, in which we can leave the pace of our day behind, and get a peaceful night’s sleep. Or, until one of the little ones ends up in our bed.
Tips On How To Create A Dreamy Bedroom:
- Decluttering is THE most important step; your bedroom is a place where you want to destress and recharge.
- Choose the perfect paint for your space. I love muted colors for bedrooms as they help give a more serene vibe. My walls are Bleeker Beige by Benjamin Moore.
- Invest in quality sheets, look for high thread count, and temperature regulated. Trust me; you can’t have a dreamy bedroom with rough, uncomfortable sheets.
- Add layers to your bed and tons of pillows. To create contrast, try a duvet in a neutral color with a patterned quilt on top. Layering pillows creates comfort and a beautiful aesthetic. Accent pillows should pick up the colors of a print from the bedding or flow well with the selected color scheme.
- Area rugs add texture, pattern, and coziness to a bare floor in the bedroom. They also define the space and prevents your feet from stepping on a cold bare floor first thing in the morning!
- Add accent ambient lighting; I love the effect chandeliers give.
- Follow Feng Shui bedroom tips. You can easily do two practices: having the bed accessible from all sides and avoiding placing it across from the door.
- Use essential oils like lavender and Ylang Ylang, known for their relaxing effects. Use a diffuser, or make your own DIY linen spray by adding up to 10 drops of essential oil of your choice to 1/2 cup water + 1/4 cup of vodka into a spray bottle.
- Keep the temperature in your room cool. One of our room’s best additions is the Dyson Pure Cool Link™ purifier fan, which both cools and purifies the air.
- Last but not least, add some plants to your space. Studies have shown that plants can help clean indoor air by absorbing toxins, increasing humidity & producing oxygen. Furthermore, it helps reduce stress levels.
