In this post, I will be sharing tips on How To Groom and Shape Your Eyebrows at home. I hope that here you find helpful tips to help you perfect your brows like a pro.

Why Are Brows So Important?

Eyebrows are probably the most important feature on our faces. They frame the eyes, establishing a look and mood. Moreover, eyebrows can also give you an instant face-lift without the surgery!

Every one of us is born with our brow style; the hair grows differently in every one of us. And there is no eyebrow trend or rule about how they should look.

However, when your eyebrows are misshapen and do not flow smoothly, the perspective of your face is thrown off rather than noticing your face as a whole, particularly when viewing you eye to eye.

You’d be surprised at how much more intently someone will listen to you when you have perfect brows for your face. Below are some tips and suggestions on How To Groom and Shape Your Eyebrows Like a Pro so you are always ready for eye-to-eye contact.

How To Find The Best Shape For Your Brows

If you are not happy with your current brow style, the best way to reshape them is by growing your eyebrows to their natural shape, which is probably how most of us look right now during the quarantine. Want thicker brows? Try this DIY, use it on your lashes, brows, and nails. All the extra hairs will help you find a more flattering shape to your eyebrows.

In the meantime, with the technique I’m sharing here, you will be able to grow out areas you need without going full 🐵 hairy mode. Simply follow the same steps leaving the areas you’re trying to grow alone.

Even though my brows were micro-bladed a year ago I’ve been able to maintain the shape of mine pretty easy using the general guideline (see pic below) that I follow.

This general guideline can be very helpful in determining where your eyebrows should fall. However, you can always tweak it to your personal preferences. For instance, I have wide-set eyes, so I keep the beginning of my brows closer together. Another thing to consider is the shape of your face. Below are some tips based on your face shape that will help you decide on what brow style will suit you best.

How to choose the right brow for your face shape:

If you have a heart-shaped face, thick eyebrows can throw your face off-balance. Similarly, thick eyebrows can overwhelm a round face. These types of faces look great with well-groomed brows that are neither too thick or too thin.

On a long or rectangular face, you can make your face appear shorter or more proportional with a straighter, flatter eyebrow. If you have a diamond face shape, curved eyebrows can lessen the angularity of your face.

On the other hand, if you have a square jaw, a thick, heavy brow can balance the top half of your face by making it match the bottom.

What eyebrow shape looks good on everyone? Soft, angled eyebrows are universally flattering, regardless of your face shape.

Most importantly, there is no one “best” brow, take in your overall look, your profession, your personality, and your lifestyle and decide what’s the best for you and your face.

Now that I’ve shared some general guidelines to help you pick your best brow style. It’s time to learn How To Groom and Shape Your Eyebrows Like a Pro.

Step 1

Find the beginning of your brows by holding a brow pencil vertically at the middle of each nostril and then mark that spot for later reference. Pivot the pencil to the outside of your iris to find your arch, and again make a mark. To find the tail end of your arch, swing the pencil until it grazes the outer corner of your eye. You can also let the outer edge sit a tiny bit higher than the inner edge to give your eyes a more lifted look.

Step 2

Once you’ve determined where your brows should fall, it’s time to outline the shape you want using the same brow pencil. This stencil will help guide you to groom and shape your brows like a pro!

Step 3

After, I like to take the Defuzzer tool and carefully clean up errant hairs around the brows.

What you should know before shaving your brows:

Shaving around the brows is a delicate process. First of all, the skin around the eyes is relatively thin, so you need to be extremely careful, as it can be easy to scrape or cut yourself. The best way to avoid this is by holding your skin taut with your other hand. If you dont feel comfortable, just skip this step.

What I love about this step is that it is painless and I can get nice and close to the brows and achieve a more polished result. And speaking of results, they don’t last long, since shaved hairs grow back more quickly than if you tweezed them. Nonetheless, I still prefer to do this step instead of tweezing all those little hairs one by one.

Step 4

Then, break out your slanted tweezers, and only remove the hairs outside the pencil lines. Pay attention to the direction the hair is growing and pull the hair in the same direction.

The direction you pull is essential because each hair is connected to a blood vessel, and are prone to follicle damage, which can result in hairs never grow back. You might want those hairs in the future. Just saying.

Next, wipe off the pencil to see the results, I like using an antibacterial toner. My favorite is Thayer’s Alcohol-Free Lavender Witch Hazel Toner with soothing and hydrating ingredients.

Step 5

Give your brows a trim: brush hair up with spoolie and trim only the very long hairs. The goal is to cut down the long hairs without giving brows a too-close crop.
