The journey of maintaining healthy hair can be a tedious one, did you know you can break and damage your hair even in your sleep?! Furthermore, the persons’ lifestyle and even the water coming out of your showerhead can play factors to damage your hair.
I am a freak when it comes to the health of my hair, but I love to color it, straighten, and or curl it. All while maintaining the health of it, whenever I get out of hand with bleach or excessive heat styling I cut off my hair and start again. Throughout the years I have shared many tips on maintaining a healthy head of hair. From DIY masks like these ones HERE to holy grail products like this one HERE.
However, one of the sure ways to damage your hair is by heat-styling it. Heat styling tools can break down the hair’s hydrogen bond which is why using heat protection products is key to achieving healthy hair. That being said, not all hair products perform the same, some might actually enhance the look of damaged hair. More often, styling products can weigh down the hair, making it look lifeless and greasy.
Which is why I have made it one of my goals to find the products that work. And lucky for me I have five different hair types I style from home that I can test these products on to help me make a more solid review of the product.

My Review Of Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil:
My first time trying the product was on my own hair and I was not using heat to style after. Instead, I allowed the hair to air dry, which btw its the best way to prevent damage. My hair air-dried ok, it felt softer and looked shinier. However, it didn’t look tamed or manageable.
Before I move on, let me tell you the current condition of my hair; I have medium-thick wavy hair. I have some damage left on the top part from bleach but overall my hair has remained healthy since my makeover.
Since the first impression, I have blow-dried, flat ironed and curled my hair using Olaplex bonding oil and I have to say it does an amazing job. I have noticed a big improvement in the feel and look of my styled hair. My hair looks more healthy and “bouncy” even when straighten.
I have also used Olaplex Bonding Oil on the girl’s hair and the results have been overall pretty good but with some inconsistencies. For example, I notice that on Valentina’s coarse straight hair it feels a little rough after styling, however, it really appears to improve the shine and manageability of her thick locks. Furthermore, on Marley’s very thin, curly fragile hair it smoothed and minimized her frizz perfectly. Her hair felt and looked healthier, and more manageable.
On Gabi’s curly medium textured hair it had similar results as on my hair, giving the appearance of shinier healthier locks. Finally, on Camila’s medium curly I did not notice much of an improvement, To be completely honest, her hair is perfect as is and requires minimum products or even styling (lucky her) and me.
In conclusion, after weeks of trying it, I would definitely recommend Olaplex Bonding Oil. Most worthy, very little goes a long way and can also be used on dry hair which makes it a more versatile product. Certainly, a must-try product if you are looking for a heat-styling product that also helps repair and strengthen your hair.
