In this post, I want to share my 5 Morning Rituals To Win The Day. As well as the improvements these rituals have made in my health, fitness, work and love life. My hope is that you find them helpful enough to put some of these to practice for yourself.
Before I get more into my new morning rituals, let me break down what my mornings used to look like. I would set my alarm a few minutes before I had to wake up the big girls for school. Once they were off to school my hope was that the little ones would sleep in and I could then get some me-time. Needless to say, this “plan” was a complete hoax and was only setting me up for failure. The girls have the most unpredictable waking schedules, as well as the often curveballs (colds, school cancelations, emergency in one of our rentals) that would change the whole trajectory of my day. It was the equivalent of going on a road trip without a map. With this routine, I often found myself frustrated, tired and unmotivated. I realized that I needed to be a change, I desired a morning routine that wouldn’t be so susceptible to my unpredictable day. In fact, what I needed were Morning Rituals.
What’s the difference between a ritual and a habit or routine? A habit is something we create without knowing. Rituals, on the other hand, are something we do with intention and focus.
Before Starting a new ritual
First of all, before embarking on a ritual of any kind you should set the intention for doing it. Otherwise, there will be no driving force to help you commit and do it full-heartedly. For me, the goal/intention is to reconnect with my self and improve the quality of my thoughts as well as the love and patience I give those around me. Secondly, my ritual needed a new wakeup time. I began by playing around with different wake-up times and decided that I do my best when I wake up at 5:00 Am. This new wakeup time, gave me enough time to do my rituals with no interruptions. Third, and most important do it with a positive attitude, there will be challenges every time you try something new. Some days, I want to hit the snooze button so badly. But with a clear intention and positive affirmations, you will stay motivated, stay accountable, show up every day and never give up.
5 Morning Rituals To Win The Day
- Drink up: The first thing I do when my alarm goes off is reach for my 16-ounce water bottle. I drink as much of it as I can before getting out of bed.
- Give Thanks: I then close my eyes and give thanks for a new day, and the opportunity to be my best self.
- Guided Meditation: After, that I step out of my bed and I go to my meditation corner. I open the Headspace app and practice meditation for 20 minutes.
- Stretch: Right after my meditation, I take a few minutes to stretch my body. This feels amazing!
- Read/Journal: Finally, I make myself a cup of tea read a few pages of a book and write down my intentions for the day.
These 5 Morning Rituals To Win The Day are the anchor that keeps me in tune with my self. Furthermore, it has also helped improve every other aspect of my life and my relationship with my loved ones. I am more patient and present in everything I do. In addition, thanks to this peaceful morning ritual I have been able to use the bathroom more regularly. I know TMI, but honestly, this has always been a big struggle for me. My belief is that because I’m drinking more water, as well as meditating and doing mindful stretches my body is thanking me by ridding itself of all the 💩 that used to just sit in my lower belly. Now I have more energy to tackle my days. As well as clearer skin, tighter abs, and more self-appreciation. Without a doubt, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made was implementing these 5 Morning Rituals To Win The Day.
Do you have any morning rituals? If no, will you be trying a new morning ritual now?
