Hi guys! It’s been a while, and if you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen small glimpses of what I’ve been up to, painting, renovating, and packing. However, I have not shared many details. Why? Well, my life these past few months have been very hectic and trying in all possible ways.
The truth is that moving from anywhere is overwhelming, but moving your family to another country is another level of trials and tribulation. Moreover, to top that, we were setting up our home to rent on Airbnb, so the last thing I had on my plate was time to do the creative things I love or even brush my hair if im keeping it a hundred.
With all that said, I don’t want to complain because, as the saying goes, “Difficult roads can lead you to beautiful destinations,” our destination sure is beautiful and was worth all the challenges we had to overcome to arrive.
Our Adventures As Expats Begin In Costa Rica
One of the main questions I got from friends and family when we announced our decision to leave America was why? We have a beautiful home (check it out on Airbnb), a profitable business, and what seems to others a “dream life.” But, the truth is, we were far from happy raising our girls in the states. I was frustrated by the lack of community we had for them, and the lifestyle, in general, lacked substance.
In short, we want more for them, and giving them a worldly experience is a great start. Oh, and I desperately need the girls to learn Spanish!
Pura Vida
For Ticos, “Pura Vida” expresses happiness, optimism, and living life to the fullest. Ultimately, wherever we are, this is also what my family and I strive for. But it is lovely to live in a country where everyone seeks the same. We hope that we can build a community of like-minded people for them and preserve their innocence and joyful spirits for as long as possible.
Apart from that, Costa Rica offers the opportunity for the family to do everything we enjoy; hiking, outdoor living, gardening, rich wildlife, swimming, diversity, healthy foods, and lots of family time.
That said, we are aware that there will be many challenges to overcome, but the good outweighs the bad so far.
Two Weeks Living In Costa Rica
We have been in Costa Rica for two weeks today (8/24/2022), apart from catching up on much-needed body and mind rest. This is what we have done so far; purchased a lovely Honda Pilot in San Jose, which we named Nipsey Blue. Then we made our way to Playa Grande, Guanacaste, and settled into our first monthly rental.
Our original plan was to try different locations each month, but now the goal is to find a long-term rental property we can comfortably live in until we build our house here in Costa Rica. As the idea of packing and unpacking, every month seriously sounds like a nightmare.
Also, the girls started school and are loving it! I’ll share more details about it and answer any questions you might have in another post. ☺️

I’m also looking forward to discovering local health and beauty brands, and I packed a large suitcase filled with beauty & makeup products to try and review, so make sure you subscribe!
