In this post I will be sharing 3 Easy Ways to Get Out Of A Rut.
Sometimes, the best way to describe life is as a rollercoaster. One moment you are living your best life, completing tasks, sticking to a fitness routine, and feeling accomplished. And other times, you find yourself with no motivation to do anything.
There are many reasons for why we sometimes feel stuck, and it can be quite recurring. The truth is this is a feeling that even the best of us experience at some point. Rather than thinking of it as something abnormal or scary, think of it as a normal phase of life.
First and foremost, you must realize that you are the boss of your life, and within you is everything you need to help get you unstuck. Moreover, it’s important that you start working on it as soon as you start to notice the signs.
The great thing is that, typically, it is not so difficult to get over the slump, once we recognize that we are in one. Below are some of the most useful steps you can take to get out of a rut.
3 Easy Ways to Get Out Of A Rut
1. Shift your priority and focus on Self-Care:
Taking care of your mental health and body is the first and foremost step that you need to take in order to get out of a rut. A healthy body paves the way to a healthy mind, so I always focus on exercises to help boost my endorphin levels. Try doing these 6 quick and easy workouts, and you should start to feel an instant mood boost!
Hate working out? No worries! Certain foods, such as chocolate and chili peppers, also cause a boost in endorphins. The release of endorphins upon the ingestion of chocolate might explain why many people crave chocolate during times of stress.
And for a serotonin boost, I firmly believe that a positive mental attitude with the support of affirmations will help you achieve a better mood. Typically, when we are in a funk, we tend to focus on the negative. Instead, focus on your achievements, big and small.
Another tool I use is positive affirmations. Affirmations help purify our thoughts and restructure the dynamic of our brains so that we truly begin to live like everything is possible. Check out the 18 empowering affirmations that have helped me achieve a more positive attitude as well as acceptance and self-love.
2. Do Less:
Often time I find myself in a rut after being under a lot of pressure. Or when I’m putting more on my plate than I should. What starts to happen is that I become overwhelmed and begin to question my self-worth. Or worse, I start to compare myself to others.
Now, this is where dopamine comes to the rescue! Dopamine engages our brain to spot potential rewards and to take action to move toward them. The more things you check off on your list, the more dopamine is released.
When your motivation is gone, start small, you want to build up the momentum from there. For example, even though there’s often more to be done, I only write my top three tasks for the day. Once you start to take action, the motivation will come, and you will be able to continue to do more.
Once you get, the engine started, gradually increase the tasks and get on to crushing them all!
3. Begin Journaling:
A regular journaling gratitude practice, for example, at the beginning or end of each day, can train the mind to spot more instances of positive aspects in our lives. Not only can this be a great pick-me-up if we’re in the depths of a funk, but it can also help combat future slumps we may have found ourselves in otherwise.
Scientific evidence supports that journaling accesses your left brain, which is analytical and rational. While your left brain is occupied, your right brain is free to create, intuit, and feel. In sum, writing removes mental blocks and allows you to use all of your brainpower to better understand yourself, others, and the world around you.
In conclusion, by acknowledging your emotions and problems, and actively taking actions to change up your thoughts, you will take control of your life again. And I hope that you found these 3 Easy Ways to Get Out Of A Rut helpful.
